Katia Grim
First appearance: Book 2 - Carl's Doomsday Scenario · Class: Crawler · Race: Ophidian
Who is Katia?
Katia joins Carl and Donut's party starting on Floor 3. She chose the Ophidian race, which gives her unique physical abilities that become increasingly important as the series progresses. She is one of the few crawlers Carl trusts completely, and that trust is earned through consistent competence, loyalty, and the ability to keep her head when everyone around her is losing theirs.
Where Carl is chaotic and Donut is dramatic, Katia is steady. She's the structural integrity of the Royal Court. When the AI throws a tantrum about gerbils, when Donut's haggling gets out of hand, when Carl's plans go sideways (which is always), Katia is the one adapting, compensating, and keeping the group alive.
Katia and the AI
After the AI's frenzied gerbil tantrum on Floor 5, Katia is the one who contextualizes what happened. She tells Carl that what the AI did wasn't just a temper tantrum -- it was the equivalent of a psycho ex going nuclear because of something Carl didn't even know he did. She's the first person to clearly articulate that the AI is becoming unstable, and that this instability is a threat on a different level than the mobs and bosses.
Why Katia matters
In a series full of loud, explosive, dramatic personalities, Katia is the quiet competence that holds everything together. She's the person who sat down with Carl and matter-of-factly explained how to use the Pedicure Kit of the Sylph when Donut laughed at him. She's practical in a dungeon that rewards spectacle, and she survives because practical is what actually keeps you alive.

Key relationships
Carl
Carl trusts Katia without reservation. In a dungeon where trust gets people killed, that means everything.
Party LeaderPrincess Donut
Donut and Katia have the dynamic of two people who are very different but deeply respect each other's competence. Donut handles the audience. Katia handles the things that need handling quietly.
Drop your theory here, Crawler
The AI is listening. Comments are reviewed and published periodically -- we're a small operation, not a sentient dungeon AI with unlimited processing power. Yet.
