Dungeon Crawler Carl book questions

Is the Dungeon Crawler Carl series complete?

Not yet. Eight Dungeon Crawler Carl books are out; the newest, A Parade of Horribles, came out May 12, 2026. Matt Dinniman has said the ending is being written as one story and released as two books, Books 9 and 10. Book 9, working title The Beautiful Place, has no release date yet.

Is Dungeon Crawler Carl available in paperback?

Partly. Ace, which publishes the series in print in the US, has trade paperbacks of Books 1 and 2 only (December 30, 2025 and August 4, 2026), and Random House Large Print has editions of Books 1 to 6. No paperback date has been announced for Books 3 to 8, which are in hardcover.

Is there a Dungeon Crawler Carl box set?

Not from the publisher: Penguin Random House lists no Dungeon Crawler Carl box set. Amazon does sell a five-book hardcover set of Books 1 to 5 from a third-party seller, which is not an official box set. When we compared prices on October 9, 2026, the set cost about 50% more than the five Ace hardcovers bought one at a time from Amazon. Buy them separately: the shop page links each one.

Is there a special edition of Dungeon Crawler Carl?

Yes. The Deluxe Edition of Book 1 from Ace comes out November 17, 2026, with cover and interior art by Victo Ngai, an illustrated case with a solvable maze, stenciled edges, a ribbon marker, a Q&A with Matt Dinniman and the first part of a bonus story. Signed hardcovers of Books 1 and 2 with new dust jackets were announced on Dinniman's site in July 2026, while supplies last.

Hardcover, Kindle or audiobook: what is the difference?

The Ace print editions carry one chapter of an exclusive bonus novella at the back of each book; it is extra, not needed for the plot. The ebooks are all in Kindle Unlimited and libraries lend them through Libby. The audiobooks are on Audible, narrated by Jeff Hays. Our full comparison is in Which format?
