The Faction Wars

The Faction Wars take place on Floor 9, the largest floor in the dungeon. Nine armies, each sponsored by wealthy alien factions, battle for control of the castle Larracos over 30 days. 32,000 crawlers are conscripted into armies alongside 50,000 retired crawlers and 100,000 armed enemies. Deaths are permanent on this floor — no respawns, no loopholes. Carl commands one of the nine teams.
For the first time in the entire history of Dungeon Crawler World — across every season, on every planet — the NPCs form their own independent tenth faction. They were never supposed to be self-aware. They were never supposed to organize. This is unprecedented and it changes everything about how the dungeon works. The human-NPC battle cry against the Syndicate forces is "Fuck the cheese sticks!" See our theory article on the NPC uprising.

The Crown of the Sepsis Whore

No. Katia does not die. But she leaves. The Crown of the Sepsis Whore created an unbreakable curse: either Katia or Donut had to die before Floor 9 ended. The resolution: Katia consumes the Orchid and accepts a boon that lets her leave the dungeon entirely. She's turned back into a human but is missing body parts. She's alive and out — but gone from the party. Carl and Donut continue without their closest ally.
No. Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk does not die. The Crown curse is resolved by Katia leaving the dungeon, not by either character dying. Donut is alive and continues into Book 8. She is still magnificent. She is still insufferable. She is still the #1 ranked crawler.
Katia consumes the Orchid, a special item that allows her to accept a boon to exit the dungeon entirely. The curse required that one Blood Sultanate member die or leave before the floor ended. Katia chose to leave. She's transformed back into a human, missing body parts, but alive. It's not death — it's absence. A different kind of loss.

Book 7 Ending

The Faction Wars conclude. Katia leaves the dungeon. Carl and Donut descend toward Floor 10. The epilogue drops several bombshells: someone named "Justice" has released all of the gods. The changelings and someone called Juicebox may be impersonating the released deities. The galactic power structure is fracturing. Lucia Mar's body is revealed to contain over 120,000 human children. None of these threads are resolved. Full Book 7 recap.
At the end of Book 6, Carl acquired a spider embedded in his chest, connected to Shi Maria (the Bedlam Bride — a demigod with a woman's head on a giant spider body). This is NOT resolved in Book 7. Carl carries it into Book 8. What the spider does, what Shi Maria wants, and how it affects Carl is one of the biggest open questions heading into A Parade of Horribles.
Late in Book 7, it's revealed that Lucia Mar's body contains over 120,000 human children. This is one of the most devastating lore drops in the series. It changes everything about what you thought you knew about the dungeon's relationship with Earth's survivors. This revelation is NOT resolved in Book 7 — it's left as an open thread heading into Book 8.
No. Mongo nearly dies in Book 7 but is saved by Ser Rendelgor. He also becomes a father during the Faction Wars. Mongo is alive heading into Book 8. He is still eating everything. SKREEE.
No. Carl is alive through all 7 published books. He has come close to dying multiple times but has not died. He continues into Book 8 with the following loadout: Primal race, Compensated Anarchist / Agent Provocateur class, Ring of Divine Suffering, Carl's Doomsday Scenario (city-leveling weapon), the Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook, Enchanted BigBoi Boxers, a spider in his chest, and no pants.

May 12, 2026. A Parade of Horribles covers Floors 10-11. 704 pages. Narrated by Jeff Hays. Floor 10 is where crawlers gain Syndicate citizenship and Exit Deals begin. Floor 11 is where Odette lost her legs during her own crawl. Book 8 hub page.
Book 8, A Parade of Horribles, covers Floors 10 and 11. Floor 10 is where crawlers gain Syndicate citizenship and Exit Deals begin. Floor 11 is notable because it's the floor where Odette lost her legs during her own crawl, decades before Carl's season.
