Who is Odette?
Odette hosts Dungeon Crawler After Hours, one of the entertainment shows that orbit the main Dungeon Crawler World broadcast. She's a crab-taur -- half crab, half humanoid -- and she runs her show with the practiced ease of someone who has been interviewing doomed crawlers for a long time.
Carl and Donut appear on her show from Book 1 on. After the Third Floor, Carl arrives wearing underwear fashioned out of toilet paper. Odette notes, on air, that this definitively proves a certain sex tape was definitely faked. This is the kind of show it is.
Despite the entertainment veneer, Odette provides Carl and Donut with genuinely useful intelligence. She leaks an advance copy of the leaderboard after they flee the Third Floor. Her relationship with the crawlers is complex -- she's part of the media machine that profits from their suffering, but she also seems to have genuine sympathy for their situation.

Is Odette good or bad in Dungeon Crawler Carl?
In Dungeon Crawler Carl, Odette is neither a clean hero nor a villain, at least in Book 1. She gives Carl and Donut genuinely useful advice, but she lives by one rule, "Never trust someone unless you know what they're getting out of it," and Mordecai warns them she is smart, cunning and self-centered.

What does Odette look like?
In Dungeon Crawler Carl, Odette appears on air as what Carl calls "a naked crab-taur wearing a bug mask": a black praying-mantis helmet with huge mirrored eyes and long antennae, a human upper body with exaggerated prosthetics, and below it a king crab the size of a brown bear.
Off camera, in Book 1, she takes it all off. She is a human woman of about sixty, though not from Earth, and a former crawler who lost her legs on the Eleventh Floor of her own crawl. She gets around on a hovering disk. Her show is covered in Who is Odette?
