Floor briefing
Floor 6. The Hunting Grounds. Class specialization is available. Guilds are introduced. Parties are restricted to 30 members. The dungeon has stopped pretending to be fair. The dungeon was never fair. But now it's also political. The AI considers this an improvement. The AI has a strange definition of improvement.

Overview

Floor 6 is a jungle environment where hunters are released to track crawlers. Guild mechanics debut here, and parties are forcibly restricted to 30 members -- larger groups are automatically split. This fundamentally changes the social dynamics of the crawl. Alliances, territory, and politics become as important as combat.

Class specialization happens on this floor. Every crawler picks a second-tier class that locks in their build and grants powerful new abilities. Carl becomes an Agent Provocateur. Donut becomes a Legendary Diva. She cannot sing. This does not stop her. Mordecai's response to this development tells you everything about Mordecai.

Lucia Mar joins the Royal Court on this floor, adding genuine combat competence to a party that was previously held together by duct tape, explosives, and cat magic.

The Butcher's Masquerade

The Masquerade event on this floor is one of the most discussed sequences in the entire series. Without spoiling it: the event forces crawlers into a situation where the rules change completely, alliances are tested, and Dinniman does something with the narrative that readers either love or find devastating. Often both.

The community debates about the Masquerade are still active years after publication. For full discussion, see the Book 5 Recap (full spoilers).

CrawlCon

CrawlCon is held on Floor 6. It's a convention inside the dungeon -- art contests, panel discussions, autograph sessions. Comic-Con but people are literally dying between panels. The AI takes CrawlCon very seriously. The AI has prepared commemorative badges. Nobody asked for commemorative badges.

Drop your theory here, Crawler

Theories, arguments, and things we got wrong. The AI is listening, and unlike the AI in the books it does occasionally admit fault.
