Carl

Carl is Crawler #4,122, a 27-year-old Coast Guard veteran and marine technician who was outside, in his boxers, when every man-made structure collapsed. He does not want to be anyone's hero. He just refuses to leave people behind, solves problems with improvised explosives, and talks back to the System AI that is broadcasting him to the galaxy.

Princess Donut
Royalty, obviously. You know your worth and you announce it.
Princess Donut is a Best in Show tortoiseshell Persian who ate an Enhanced Pet Biscuit, melted into a heap of goo, and came back sapient, talking and in charge. She renamed the party the Royal Court of Princess Donut, made Carl her Royal Bodyguard, and has the highest Charisma in it. She rides on Carl's shoulder and leaps into fights from there.

Mongo
Pure appetite and loyalty. Small, loud and absolutely going to bite it.
Mongo is a velociraptor Donut picked from a pet reward room on Floor 2, about seven inches tall with pink downy feathers, bonded to Donut. He eats everything, throws it up and eats it again, and announces himself with a shriek. He is getting bigger.
You are all heart and no brakes. People underestimate you right up until you are the most dangerous thing in the room.

Mordecai
The one who has seen it all and is very tired of explaining it.
Mordecai is the game guide: a former crawler who runs the tutorial guild on Floor 1 and teaches new crawlers how not to die. He would not open the guild door with mobs nearby, and Carl nearly died in his first minutes because of it. His signature is weary exasperation, and his advice is almost always right.
You are the friend people call when it is already a disaster. You complain the whole time, and you never stop helping.

Katia Grim
Steady, practical and quietly the glue. You become what the team needs.
Katia is a Doppelganger who joins the party on Floor 3 with the Monster Truck Driver class. She can reshape a fixed amount of mass by hand, was bad at faces at first, and practised until she was not. She is the steady one Carl learns to trust.
You do the unglamorous work, you adapt without complaining, and the people around you are safer because you are there.
